  • Our commercial cartridge style temperature sensors are now available to the general public. These provide an quick and easy change to any of our other commercial sensors when you change hot ends across print platforms. These are only compatible on newer Ubis 13 hot ends that have two temperature hole mounts. (If you purchased your hot end from this web site then for sure it will mount both the older style bead sensor and this newer cartridge style sensor. Many models purchased from Printrbot also had this larger hole, but not all.)

  • Compatible hot ends are easily identified by observing two threaded screw holes opposite each other for set screws, along with the two larger holes for temperature sensor mounting. Only the larger of these two holes allows for mounting this cartridge style sensor.

  • The standard temperature sensor that shipped with Printrbots was a EPCOS NTC  thermistor G560 / 100K / 1%.  Selection '1' for the thermistor table in the Printrboard firmware.  For the standard bead and cartridge thermistor temperature sensor we continue to use the same rated part, both in terms of electrical and mechanical specifications.

  • For installation instructions please download the Ubis 13S Hot End Manual here . Please note that the manual is not yet updated to reflect the cartridge style temperature sensors.

    IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE:

Do NOT over tighten the set screw when installing. This is a delicate part and over tightening the set screw can crush the sensor. Just snug, to say ‘tighten’ is too much! Also if you over tighten it then getting it out later could be a problem.

  • Approximately 2.8" long

  • Cartridge diameter is 0.118" or 3.0mm, cartridge length is 0.5"

  • Recommended hole size if you drill out an existing mount would be to use a 1/8" drill bit. This provides a few extra thousands of an inch for easy fit yet good thermal contact with the heater core when the set screw is gently tightened.
